Making the healthy option available is one of the many commitments of the food and drink industry The results are new, enhanced and reformulated products in a greater variety of serving sizes that make it easier for European citizens to make healthy dietary choices. It is a challenge to change a product’s ingredients while maintaining the taste that consumers have come to love and expect. But the food industry is committed to meeting consumers’ tastes and needs as they evolve, and the examples shown give a sense of the depth and scale of the efforts undertaken to give everyone a wider range of products from which to choose those that best suit their lifestyle.

Food companies in Hungary have reacted to the changing consumers’ needs and developed a wide range of products that make the healthy choice the easy choice. Specific examples: - Cerbona has introduced a number of snacks made of mostly natural ingredients like cereals, fruits, honey and oilseeds
- Chio-Wolf uses a new production method to reduce the level of fat in certain products (Chio Chips Light) by 30 percent without changing the taste
- Coca-Cola Hungary has extended its portfolio of beverages to include three natural mineral water variants and 100%, natural fruit juices. Both Cappy Ice Fruit drinks and Cappy juices have versions fortified with vitamins, and Nestea Green Tea contains beneficial, natural anti-oxidants.
- Danone introduced a new generation of probiotic products including Actimel and uses the so-called Bifidus ActiRegularis® in many of its products
- Mars developed the Milky Way Minute product line that has added fibre, vitamins and calcium in it.
- MIRSA CO., LTD. produces quick frozen vegetables and fruits in Hungary without any preservatives and additives. The products they produce are rich in fibers and ensure the necessary vitamins for the human organism even in the winter.
- Nestlé is using whole grains in its breakfast cereals
- New, lower energy-content version of every Schweppes soft-drinks produced by Pepsi containing 30 percent less sugar
- Unilever has decreased drastically the fat-content in many of its products including margarines and ice creams.

The survey results revealed that the majority of SEVT Members (68%) are committed to give to the consumers high quality, affordable products that will meet their current needs. The survey results were presented in the General Assembly of the Federation which took place in March 2007. The questionnaire will be circulated to SEVT Members every 2 years in order to enable SEVT to measure progress.
